The best Temporary Jobs for Librarians and Information Professionals
Applications are invited from graduates for the post of Graduate Trainee in the College Library.
Pembroke College has had a Library since its foundation in 1347 by Marie de St Pol, Countess of Pembroke. The modern collection comprises approximately 36,000 volumes and approximately 30 current periodical titles. The College has an extensive collection of rare books; its medieval manuscripts are housed at the University Library. The Fellow Librarian oversees the College Library, and a Library Committee, comprised of Fellows of the College and student representatives, determines Library policy.
The Library serves around four hundred undergraduates, about one hundred postgraduate students and seventy Fellows, and covers all subjects taught within the College. The Library is staffed between 8am and midnight in term and 8.30am to 10pm in the vacations. PWF workstations and internet facilities are available to students in the Library, and at other access points within the College.
The successful applicant will join the Librarian and a part-time Library Assistant. The post of Graduate Trainee will offer the successful candidate the chance to acquire a basic grounding in library work and the opportunity to meet students from all over the world during our extensive Summer Schools programme.
