The Archivist will be required to Manage a team of employees including handling their recruitment and evaluation; Lead the processing team in the appraisal, arrangement, description, conservation, and cataloguing of the research and documentation of the archives; Oversee the care of the archival collection in all media; Oversee the digitization of archival text and images; Oversee public access to archival resources; Oversee the creation of archival exhibitions and public programs.

Prior to the selection of additional archival staff the Archivist will also:
Appraise, describe, conserve and catalogue research and documentation of the archives; Provide input into the development of plans, policies and procedures relevant to the archives; Ensure that the public will have access to all archival resources; with appropriate access controls in place.

The ideal candidate should have the following criteria:

• MA in archival studies, history or library science; public administration would be an asset; geography, linguistics, foreign language, sociology, archeology, comparative religions;
• Archival training or experience in all archival media;
• Knowledge of the techniques of selection, evaluation, preservation, restoration, digitization and exhibition or archival materials of all media;
• Bilingual (Arabic/English).
