Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and experienced Librarian to fill a part-time (0.5 fte, 2.5 days/week) temporary Subject Librarian vacancy. The post-holder will work alongside two current members of Library Academic Services staff: a Faculty Librarian and a Subject Librarian in our Science and Engineering & Design faculty teams, both currently working 0.8 fte roles.

You will support 4 academic departments: Chemistry, Pharmacy & Pharmacology, Electronic & Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering; working with the Subject and Faculty Librarian responsible for these Departments. While working to the full Subject Librarian job description linked below, this role will have a focus on budget and collection management, and support for developmental projects.

This post offers an ideal opportunity for an experienced, qualified Librarian wishing to apply and develop their skills in an academic support role within a University Library. The post holder will join the Library’s Academic Services teams at a period of exciting development, and will contribute towards current digital projects as we develop our website and communications, implementing LibGuides, and extend the use of our Reading List Management system (Leganto).

You will provide exemplary services and contribute towards the development of wider Library strategy. You should be innovative and collaborative in your practice and have excellent communication and organisational skills to work effectively between departments and teams. An ability to work accurately with numerical and financial data, and technical systems will be essential.

Applicants should have a CILIP accredited qualification in librarianship or information studies, or equivalent, to at least undergraduate level, and be a Chartered member of, or committed to completing Chartership with CILIP.

The successful applicant will join a dedicated, professional team of Library staff committed to the continual development of services to support the University’s strategy: to deliver world-class research and teaching, extend the University’s international influence, and enrich the student experience. We understand the importance of continued professional development for all Library staff in order to achieve this, and provide programmes of local opportunities, and support involvement in appropriate external activities.

We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

For informal enquiries about the role please contact Hannah South, Head of Library Academic Services (01225 386589 or H.L.South@bath.ac.uk).

Closing date: Sunday 15 July 2018.
Interview date: Tuesday 24 July 2018.

This vacancy is expected to run until 25th January 2019.
