The Cataloguer Database Specialist classifies and catalogues library materials, using ILS cataloguing module, interface software, and local automated system and equipment to make acquired materials available to the public in a timely manner. You will ensure that the library database and catalogue is operational at opening and includes 50,000 stock items. Quality control of input is essential to facilitate retrieval of information at a later date. You will assist in local database management, including development and maintenance of local authority files and holdings and recommend procedural and workflow changes to achieve optimum material throughput. You will develop and maintain procedural manuals, instruct staff and volunteers in book processing requirements and bibliographic arrangement. The library has been building its collection thus it requires two designated Cataloguer Database Specialists (to cover both English and Arabic languages), to classify and catalogue its growing library hard-copy materials, for the record-keeping purpose and for the streamlining of future acquisitions. The ideal candidates should have the following criteria: • A Bachelor degree in Library & Information Science • Three years’ library experience • Working knowledge of cataloging principles including AACR2, Library of Congress subject headings, Dewey Decimal Classification and MARC format
