Job Description

The London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth present a unique opportunity to be part of a team who work together in a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across both boroughs. The two authorities have chosen different delivery methods for their library services, one directly delivered and the other outsourced, but both are successful, secure, high performing and highly valued by residents and council members.

Based in Richmond upon Thames libraries, the Library Development Manager will play a central role in the strategic delivery of high quality professional library services; devising and managing new library projects that take innovative leaps forward; working at the cutting edge of the e/digital sphere; pushing at traditional boundaries to increase library performance; leading a skilled and diverse team of professionals; managing healthy stock resource and IT budgets. Other responsibilities include assisting the Head of Libraries with the development of Wandsworth Library and Heritage Service; inputting into the planning and design of five new libraries; and the monitoring of library service contracts for both boroughs.

You need to be a dynamic and enthusiastic leader with experience of developing and enhancing services for the benefit of users. You will have a strong understanding of the library sector at local and national level and be experienced with relevant technology, software and digital services. You will need to be a confident and effective communicator, have previous project management experience and a proactive approach to monitoring service performance.
