Community Librarian

Job Description

Based at Marsh Farm Library, we require an enthusiastic and confident children’s librarian with a librarianship degree or equivalent qualification, along with an ECDL or equivalent IT qualification or equivalent experience. This is an exciting time as the public library is moving to new premises within the high school to become a joint use facility for the use of both the school and community.

Duties include providing a range of activities for children and families, ensuring good stock standards, promoting services and developing links within the community.

You will possess good communication and customer care skills with the ability to relate to children of all ages, and you will be expected to organise and run reading related activities for children and families.

You will work one late evening a week, alternate Saturdays and one in eight Sundays. You may also occasionally be asked to work outside normal working hours to participate in promotional work within the community.
