Job Description

We are looking to appoint a motivated Librarian to oversee the busy book acquisition section of the Collections Team, based at our Frenchay campus library. You will have direct line management responsibility for a team of four Library Information Assistants.

This is an exciting time to be joining the team, as we are in the process of embedding new acquisitions workflows to support the roll out of reading list management software across the university throughout 1718 academic year.

This is a core post in managing the increasing shift to ebook content and different access models, such as Open Access.

We welcome applications from newly qualified Librarians, as well as colleagues seeking to develop their line management skills and experiences in a team leader role. You will have the opportunity to deliver process improvement projects, supervise support staff in the team and develop and deliver briefings and training to staff on a variety of topics.

To be successful in this post you will need:

  • To have, or be working towards, a professional qualification in a library/information related subject via a CILIP approved route.
  • To enjoy working as part of a team.
  • To establish good working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders. This is an account manager role, in frequent contact and liaison with library subject teams, so good communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent IT skills and understanding.
  • To be self-motivated, reliably delivering work to agreed timeframes.
  • To have a flexible and adaptable approach to a changing library environment.

In addition to progressive pay rates, UWE Bristol offers a wide range of staff benefits including:

  • A generous holiday allowance of 25 Days.
  • Up to 12.5 bank holiday/closure days per year in addition.
  • Flexible working.
  • Excellent defined benefit pension schemes.
  • Option to participate in the cycle to work scheme.
  • Family friendly policies.
  • Onsite nursery at our Frenchay Campus.
  • Option to purchase childcare vouchers.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give our students access to everything they need to succeed – with £300m being spent on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation between now and 2020 to enhance our offer even further. Frenchay campus is within close proximity to excellent motorway links and within walking distance of two train stations, making UWE Frenchay Campus the ideal place to work for those wishing to commute to Bristol.
