Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and committed Chartered Librarian to manage Wiltshire’s bibliographic database from 1 April 2010.The catalogue underpins the whole of the library management system, supporting not only enquiries but also the circulation, acquisitions and interlending functions. You will be expected to maintain the catalogue to the highest standard and actively seek ways to make improvements. You should be a Chartered Librarian with extensive and up to date knowledge of cataloguing and classification. You should have a wide knowledge of current trends in cataloguing, including Resource Description and Access, and have an eye to future developments in the profession which could be of benefit to Wiltshire’s library users.You will be joining a small team who are dedicated to supplying the books Wiltshire’s readers want as soon as they want them and which has steadily improved performance year on year.
