Job Description

Plymouth City Council’s ambition is to become an excellent council by 2012.

Plymouth Libraries are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and talented individual
who can help us make that ambition a reality.

We’ve achieved a huge amount with our learning and information services.

Free Internet access in all our libraries, a successful programme of events and informal learning opportunities, increasing demand for family, local and naval history services, and an exciting and innovative Web presence including Twitter and Flickr.

Add to this the Europe Direct Plymouth Service, a PATLIB UK centre supporting innovation in the south-west, and the regional cyberLibrary website, you’ll understand that learning and information is important to Plymouth Libraries.

High on your agenda will be helping us to reshape the reference and local, family and naval history services and collections in the Central Library. So an understanding of “traditional” services is important alongside a passion for innovation and leading us into the 21st century.
If you’re a Chartered Member of CILIP with the background and skills we’re looking for, we’d like to hear from you.

In return we can offer an attractive level of pay and conditions, a stunning location with sea
and countryside close at hand, and an enviable quality of life.
