The City of London Academy, Islington (COLAI) is an 11-19 Academy sponsored by the City of London Corporation and City University London. The specialism is Business and Enterprise with a particular focus on leadership, critical thinking and creativity (reflecting the expertise that the sponsors bring to the Academy). As the Academy is a local community school, community engagement is extremely important.
This is a unique opportunity for a high calibre and successful person with a background in library and resource management to contribute to the leadership of an exciting and innovative Academy. For the right person, this post will offer you variety in your work, challenge and professional development.
We require an enthusiastic Learning Resources Centre Manager/Librarian with a love for young people and a vision for the library as a vibrant place promoting student responsibility for learning. Professional qualifications in librarianship or information management are essential.
This post provides the opportunity for someone who recognises the importance of a school library in promoting reading and teaching students' skills in research and study, both in book and electronic form. More important is having good communication and interpersonal skills; a willingness to learn and an enthusiasm for promoting books and reading.
