BAAF HEAD OFFICE– based Farringdon, EC1

£28,005 including £3,300 LW

35 hours per week - Job share considered

We are seeking a qualified librarian to provide maternity cover. The Library and Information Service primarily supports the work of the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) trainer/consultants and the media, fundraising and publications teams. It also provides some services to member agencies and external visitors. The main tasks include managing the library based in Farringdon, providing information in response to enquiries, providing an email current awareness service to staff and members, providing content for and maintaining databases on two of BAAF’s websites, and contributing to the process of developing an organisation-wide intranet.

The role also involves recruiting, supervising and co-ordinating the work of volunteers who either catalogue materials on the Library Management System or contribute material for the current awareness service.

The successful candidate must be enthusiastic and self motivated with proven experience in a library or information services role; have a meticulous eye for detail and a flexible, proactive approach to work; and excellent communication and IT skills. Previous experience of intranet development projects would be an advantage, as would familiarity with Liberty3 or other Softlink library management systems.
