Job Description

The College of Optometrists is the professional, scientific and examining body for optometrists in the UK. A registered charity, the College supports members in all aspects of their profession, works to ensure that the public is better informed about the role of the optometrist and the importance of good eye health, facilitates research that contributes towards the development of the existing evidence-base, and ensures that the profession is up to date.

As a member of a small but proactive marketing and communications team, the Library and Information Services Manager will give colleagues research support and advice, and help College members to access appropriate information in support of their education and continuing professional development. You will manage, develop and promote a full range of library and information services including reference services, literature searches and electronic journals.

You must be enthusiastic and self motivated with proven experience in a library or information services role, both on and offline; a working knowledge of science, technology, medicine or health information services; and excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will have a meticulous eye for detail and a flexible, proactive approach to work. The ability to work autonomously and to use initiative will be as important as working effectively as part of a busy team.
