Students and Education Support

Library Services is a key department within the Directorate of Students and Education Support at King’s College London, supporting the institution’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activity. Information Resources are the division of Library Services responsible for the development and delivery of services and content that create King’s Library collection.

We are looking to recruit a full-time permanent Subscriptions and Access Officer to join the Subscriptions and Access team in Information Resources, and play an active role in sourcing, ordering, and managing print and electronic subscription resources such as journals, standing orders and e-book collections.

Based at Drury Lane, you will support the effective, timely, and efficient procurement, cataloguing and processing of subscription information resources for the Library collection. You are also responsible for resolving queries on access from staff and students, maintaining the e journal and database knowledge bases, A-Z, and link resolver services, and managing the Subscriptions and Access Assistant.

Reporting to the Subscriptions and Access Manager, you will use a variety of software, including the Library Management System (LMS) Aleph, our subscription agents online information management tool ‘SwetsWise’, and the e-journals and database knowledge base services ‘SFX’ and ‘Metalib’.

You should have experience of working in a library, possess a degree and either a professional qualification in librarianship/information science or equivalent experience. Key skills for the role include planning and prioritising, problem-solving, and excellent communication. Previous experience of managing print or electronic resources, and dealing with publishers or intermediaries is desirable. You should be able to work to challenging deadlines and demonstrate a commitment to the development of innovative and world-class library services.

The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 4 scale, currently £24,648 to £27,424, per annum, inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance, per annum.
