Library Services is a key department within the Directorate of Students and Education Support at King’s College London, supporting the institution’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activity. Information Resources are the division of Library Services responsible for the development and delivery of services and content that create King’s Library collection.

We are looking to recruit a full-time permanent Metadata Coordinator to join the Acquisitions and Discovery team in Information Resources, and play a vital role in enhancing access and discovery of the Library collection.

Based at Drury Lane, the Metadata Coordinator will work in the Acquisitions and Discovery team to coordinate the creation, supply, use and sharing of bibliographic metadata to optimise access and discovery of the Library collection.

Reporting to the Acquisitions and Discovery Manager, the Metadata Coordinator will work closely with colleagues throughout Information Resources to ensure timely, accurate, and effective import, export, and integration of metadata from vendors and to union catalogues, aggregations, and related shared services.

Monitoring, implementing, and exercising quality control of relevant standards (including AACR2, MARC, RDA, LCC, LCSH), the Metadata Coordinator will formulate, implement, and document local bibliographic metadata policy and workflows, providing training and specialist guidance to colleagues.

Applicants will possess a degree and either a professional qualification in librarianship / information science or equivalent experience. An experienced cataloguer with detailed working knowledge of MARC21, AACR2, LCSH, and Library Management Systems, the successful applicant should have excellent IT skills and an ability to teach and demonstrate procedures to colleagues. The applicant will be aware of the latest advances in the field of library metadata, and demonstrate a commitment to the development of innovative and world-class library services.

The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 5 scale, currently £25,854-29,972 per annum, per annum, inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance, per annum.
