An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced Library Manager to manage a unique NHS Library Service delivered to multiple organisations across Hampshire but hosted by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Hampshire Healthcare Library Service was created in 2009 following a merger and it provides library services to the staff of three stakeholder NHS Trusts, as well as by agreement to a range of other local healthcare staff. The service is delivered by a total staff of 23 comprising of 12 professional librarians and 11 paraprofessionals, based across nine library sites across Hampshire.

You will manage and deliver the service to meet national and local quality standards. You’ll have the ability to manage a disparate team, whilst ensuring a coordinated and equitable service is maintained. Experience of budgetary and staff management is paramount as is the vision to develop the service to changing user needs.

With a relevant first degree or postgraduate qualification you’ll need experience of managing NHS libraries. You will also need to understand the structures and priorities of the NHS and be ready to advocate for the service with stakeholders.

The main office base will be at Royal South Hants Library dept in Southampton, but you will be required to provide regular visits to other library sites, in particular Basingstoke and Winchester.
